This ourse aims to deepen theoretical and practical knowledge of the operation, design, performance, and operation of turbomachinery (pumps, compressors, turbines, and fans) used in petroleum installations, particularly for drilling, transportation, and processing of hydrocarbons.
Targeted Competencies
-
Explain the energy conversion mechanisms of turbomachinery.
-
Interpret and plot velocity triangles.
-
Calculate hydraulic and mechanical efficiencies and power.
-
Select appropriate turbomachinery based on petroleum operating conditions.
-
Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic failures.
Professional Applications
-
Operation and maintenance of petroleum installations.
-
Design and sizing of pumping and compression systems.
-
Power generation and thermodynamic cycles.
-
