Space meteorology deals with the evolution of conditions in the natural space environment of our solar system. Space weather phenomena are triggered by events occurring on the surface of the Sun or in interplanetary space, which ultimately have repercussions on the Earth's natural environment. While they do not necessarily represent a direct risk to human life on Earth, meteorological disturbances in space have repercussions on a number of essential technologies and, consequently, on the global economy. These disturbances produce negative impacts on energy infrastructure, transportation networks, radio communications, and satellite services, among others, reducing the reliability of certain critical systems and potentially compromising human safety.
