The transportation of hydrocarbons is an essential stage of the oil and gas industry. It enables crude oil, natural gas, and their derivatives to be conveyed from production areas to processing, storage, and consumption facilities. This transportation is carried out over long distances and requires continuous control of pressure and temperature.
The module “Thermal Installations in Hydrocarbon Transportation” aims to present the fundamental principles and practical applications of thermal equipment used in hydrocarbon transportation systems. It is based on concepts of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer applied to industrial installations.
This module mainly covers compression and pumping stations, gas turbines, heat exchangers, and heating systems. These pieces of equipment play an important role in maintaining flow conditions, reducing energy losses, and ensuring the safety of installations.
Through this module, students acquire the necessary foundations to understand the operation of thermal installations, analyze their performance, and deal with the technical constraints related to hydrocarbon transportation in a real industrial context.
