The Applied Geology module aims to connect fundamental geological concepts with geophysical investigation methods. It enables students to develop the structural and lithological understanding required for accurate interpretation of geophysical data. The course covers the characterization of geological formations (lithology, stratigraphy, and tectonics), sedimentary environments, and structural analysis. Particular emphasis is placed on the physical properties of rocks (density, magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity, and seismic velocity) and their relationship to geophysical signatures. The module also addresses practical applications in mining, petroleum, hydrogeological, and geotechnical exploration. Students learn to integrate geological maps, structural cross-sections, and geophysical profiles within a multidisciplinary framework. The primary objective is to develop critical interpretation skills by linking field observations with instrumental data to optimize exploration and natural resource management.
