In general, the structure of matter (general chemistry) describes the reactivity of elements and their compounds, while providing an overview of the fundamental principles of chemistry. This course forms the basis of the initial scientific training of chemists. It integrates theoretical developments and uses mathematical tools to understand certain concepts of structural chemistry. Primarily intended for first-year science students (L1 level), this course is also designed as an effective teaching tool for teaching general chemistry to higher education students in science and technology.

The course is divided into six chapters, in accordance with the Common Curriculum for Science and Technology students.

Chapter-I: Basic Concepts

Chapter -II: The Principal Constituents of Matter

Chapter -III: Radioactivity – Nuclear Reactions

Chapter -IV: The Electronic Structure of the Atom

Chapter -V: The Periodic Table of Elements

Chapter -VI: Chemical Bonding
