Paleoecology is subdiscipline in paleontogy, consisting of study the past ecosystems and the interactions of ancient organisms with their environments throughout geological history. It is based mainly based on fossil records, together with multi-proxy geological data, as well as biochemical approach of fossil assemblages, environments, and ecological conditions to show the ancient life over time
