The Sensors and Metrology course explores the fundamental principles of measurement and sensor systems for electrical engineering students. It aims to offer an in-depth understanding of sensors, their operating principles, and their practical applications in various industrial contexts. Students will acquire knowledge of metrological characteristics, the selection of appropriate signal conditioners, and the basics of data acquisition chains. Across its 8 chapters, the course covers a range of technologies, from temperature and position sensors to systems for measuring speed, flow, and pressure, thus offering comprehensive preparation for mastering modern measurement systems.
This online course is intended for third-year Bachelor’s (degree) students in electrical engineering.
The main objective of this subject is to understand the various constituent elements of a measurement chain: The operating principle of a sensor, the metrological characteristics, the appropriate signal conditioner, and the basic knowledge concerning the data acquisition chain.
