A microprocessor systems module is a course that covers the components of a microprocessor, how they function, and how they interact with other devices to build a whole system. The microprocessor's arithmetic logic unit (ALU), register array, and control unit are important subjects, as are the external parts called memory and input/output (I/O) devices that are connected via a system bus. These courses teach students the foundational ideas of computer architecture and low-level programming, frequently in assembly language.
