Course Description: Introduction to Linguistics (Semester 3 – English Department)
This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to linguistics, the scientific study of language. It covers the fundamental branches of linguistics, including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, with a focus on understanding how language is structured, produced, and interpreted.
Students will explore how sounds are articulated and perceived, how words and sentences are formed, and how meaning is conveyed in different contexts. The course also emphasizes the practical application of linguistic knowledge to improve language learning, analysis, and communication skills in English.
