
This course, entitled "Telephony", is divided into five chapters. The first chapter deals with analog switching telephony. The second chapter explains the different transmission media used in telephony. The third chapter deals with GSM cellular telephony: its principle, architecture and protocols. The evolution of digital telephony up to current generations is studied in chapter four. Chapter five deals with the interconnection equipment used in telephony.

By the end of this course, students will be able to
· Understand the evolution of telephony systems, starting from analog telephone up to cellular phone.
· Be familiar with, protocols, architecture and equipment used in GSM.
· Have knowledge on different protocols and different equipment used in telephony interconnections.
