
ETHICS – Course Summary
This course introduces second-year Master students in Linguistics to the core principles and practices of research ethics. It explores the ethical responsibilities of researchers, with particular attention to issues that commonly arise in linguistic research such as informed consent, confidentiality, power dynamics, data protection, and respectful engagement with communities and participants.
Throughout the course, students will examine real-world ethical dilemmas, analyze case studies, and learn to apply national and international ethical standards. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and responsible research design. By the end of the course, students will be able to identify potential ethical risks, justify their research choices, and prepare ethically sound research proposals aligned with professional guidelines.
This course aims to cultivate integrity, accountability, and respect within the research process, preparing students to conduct linguistics research that is both methodologically rigorous and ethically grounded.
