This course is aimed at third-year engineering students specializing in Reservoir  Engineering. It constitutes a summarized synthesis of some works collected from several books (see bibliographical references) allowing for the provision of technical and scientific knowledge on the environmental responsibility which refers to the ethical and practical obligation of individuals, organizations, and governments to protect natural ecosystems and use resources in a sustainable manner. In the context of growing industrialization, urbanization, and population expansion, human activities have exerted unprecedented pressure on the environment, leading to climate change, biodiversity loss, air and water pollution, and the depletion of natural resources. Addressing these challenges requires a collective commitment to responsible environmental practices.

Environmental responsibility involves minimizing negative environmental impacts through efficient resource use, waste reduction, pollution prevention, and the adoption of environmentally friendly technologies. It also encompasses compliance with environmental regulations, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and the integration of sustainability principles into decision-making processes. By promoting responsible behavior, societies can balance economic development with environmental protection.
