This course handout on Numerical Simulation complies with the official curriculum of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It is intended for first-year LMD students (1st semester) in the field of Science and Technology at Algerian universities and engineering schools. It serves as an introduction to numerical simulation using finite differences for Petroleum Engineering students. This document is not only intended for Petroleum Engineering students but also for all scientists faced with problems leading to partial differential equations (PDEs) that do not have analytical solutions, but can be solved numerically. The various numerical methods have been presented in a simple and comprehensible manner, allowing students to become familiar with them very quickly. The drafting of this handout was drawn from existing documentation available in libraries and on internet sites."
