This module generally includes directional, deviated, horizontal, and multilateral drilling from a typical perspective. When the driller deviates the well, the inclination becomes the main geometric factor that defines the well type, its planning, execution, and control, until it reaches the final point, hitting the target. Geometry, geodesy, equipment, and engineering complement each other to complete the deviated well.

Module Objectives:

  • Deepen knowledge of directional drilling

  • Provide the necessary knowledge for planning and executing a directional drilling operation

  • Understand measurement and drilling equipment in order to select the appropriate tools for successfully carrying out a deviation

  • Learn the engineering principles and operational steps required for performing a deviation, as well as solving any problems encountered

Course Content:

CHAPTER I: Advanced knowledge in directional drilling
CHAPTER II: Directional well trajectory calculations
CHAPTER III: Directional drilling equipment
CHAPTER IV: Directional drilling engineering
CHAPTER V: Horizontal drilling and multilateral drilling
