This course on accidentology aims to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of workplace accidents by addressing their various forms, origins, and the analytical methods used to identify their root causes. It begins with a general introduction to the fundamental concepts related to occupational accidents, presenting the most common types of incidents as well as their main causes—whether human, technical, organizational, or environmental.
Special attention is given to the investigation methods used in industry, particularly the accident/incident investigation framework of the SONATRACH group, along with analytical tools such as the Ishikawa diagram and the Cause Tree (AdC), applied to a real field case.
The course also explores the human, economic, and social consequences of workplace accidents, emphasizing both direct and indirect costs for the company. Finally, it covers the conditions for recognizing and compensating workplace accidents by social security, explaining administrative procedures and employees’ rights.
This module therefore strengthens prevention culture and enhances participants’ skills in analyzing and managing occupational risks.
