Tectonics 1

Tectonics (3rd Semester, 2nd Year Geology & Hydrocarbon Geology)

This course explores how our planet is built and how it constantly changes through tectonic forces. Students will learn about the Earth’s internal structure, the balance of its crust through isostasy, and the differences between continental and oceanic crusts. We will also study how these processes shape large-scale geological features such as sedimentary basins, mountain ranges, oceanic ridges, trenches, island arcs, and islands. By the end of the course, students will understand how tectonic processes control the evolution of the Earth’s surface and influence the formation of hydrocarbon basins.
