This course, entitled "Digital Television", is divided into four chapters. The first chapter covers the basics of analog television, which forms the basis of digital television. The next two chapters deal with digitization and mpeg compression techniques (source coding) for video and audio signals. The course ends with a chapter on digital television and digital broadcasting standards (channel coding, modulation, COFDM, DVB-T, etc.).

 

The course is designed for second-year Master (S3) students in telecommunications systems.

 

The general objectives of this course are :

·        Understanding the different digitization techniques specific to video and audio, as well as their compression techniques (source coding).

·        Understanding the different codes (channel coding), modulations, interleavings, COFDM, etc. ... .
