This course of General Electricity is the result of several years of teaching to first-year undergraduate students in the Mathematics and Computer Science (MI) program at Kasdi Merbah University of Ouargla. The course content aligns with the official curriculum. It is divided into four chapters covering electrostatics, conductors in equilibrium, electrokinetics, and magnetostatics. Each chapter begins with a review of the fundamental concepts, illustrated by classic examples and accompanied by exercises with detailed solutions, some of which are taken from the course's tutorials. A bibliography is also included.
By the end of the course, students will have acquired fundamental knowledge of electricity and magnetism (calculating electric fields and potentials, calculating magnetic fields and potentials, calculating currents, etc.) in order to analyze and interpret related phenomena. Acquiring this knowledge requires the use of essential applied mathematics tools, including vector calculus and the concepts of derivatives and integrals.
The author wishes to thank all colleagues who contributed to the creation of this document, in particular Professor Ismail Chihi and Professor Tahar Touam. This first edition undoubtedly contains some imperfections; we would be grateful to anyone who would share their comments and suggestions.
