This module introduces the fundamental principles of power electronics, focusing on the operation, characteristics, and applications of power semiconductor devices and static converters. Students will gain a solid understanding of how electrical energy is converted and controlled using different types of converters (AC/DC, AC/AC, DC/DC, DC/AC). Emphasis is placed on the selection of appropriate converter topologies according to the application domain, as well as the analysis of their performance under different load conditions. This course bridges basic electronics and electrotechnics with practical applications in energy systems, industrial drives, and power conversion.
